Property management audits under Landlord and Tenant Act 1987
The Landlord and Tenant Act 1987 allows residential leaseholders to audit their property’s management.
This is a useful tool for those leaseholders who wish to have greater transparency on how their property is being managed and who want to see if there are any issues with their current management.
What types of property benefit from a property management audit?
- Where there are legal restrictions preventing leaseholders from purchasing (enfranchising) their freehold or from acquiring a right to manage (RTM)
- Where the property incudes commercial property in a mixed-use development
- Where there is a complex lease structure, for example involving a head lease
